While the island of Gili Trawangan has long been celebrated for its pristine waters and vibrant marine life, the destination faces compounding challenges regarding waste management and ecological preservation.

Today, Noema Gili Trawangan unveils its Green Blueprint—a phased operational strategy designed to minimize the resort's footprint and support the island's ecosystem. We cannot simply build a beautiful resort on Gili Trawangan and turn a blind eye to the environmental realities of the island, says Kay Tadjoedin, Director of Marketing of JHL Collection. We are implementing key environmental initiatives to ensure that Noema operates as a restorative force, integrating sustainable practices directly into our daily operations.

Transforming Wet Waste into Greenery

To combat the pressing issue of organic waste accumulation, Noema Gili Trawangan is finalizing the installation of a dedicated Composter Machine on-site. Designed to significantly reduce the volume of wet waste leaving the hotel premises, this system will process organic refuse and transform it into nutrient-rich fertilizer. This output will be directly utilized to maintain the property's landscaping and green areas, creating a closed-loop organic system right on the island.

Farm-to-Table Hydroponics & Conscious Consumption

Spearheaded by the Food & Beverage team, the resort is also developing an on-site Hydroponic Farm. This initiative not only supports the property's sustainability goals by reducing imported produce logistics but also adds tangible value to the guest experience by serving fresh, locally grown ingredients.

Furthermore, Noema is committing to a phased reduction of single-use plastics across all touchpoints, actively transitioning to eco-friendly alternatives as part of its pledge to minimize plastic waste. As the property finalizes its construction, Noema Gili Trawangan is proving that a premier coastal lifestyle can coexist with conscious environmental stewardship.
